Yesterday, “Robin” shared this impressive story with us, and It’s just one more evidence that peace is still possible, and I still count on you people to work for peace. Trust me on this guys. Weapons, killing, and war will not give peaceful life to any nation, and for the sake of the innocent people, let’s just work together to stop this madness, I beleive that together, we can make a change.

This is the story…

I am an American so if I may I would like to add to your discourse here. Short bio, in 1975 I married a Moslem (we are since amicably divorced. I am Catholic now, but wasn’t much of anything at the time except if you would like the tag ‘loosely Christian by culture). When I left America to go live in the Mideast (Lebanon and eventually KSA) I was very young and pretty much open to the adventure. What I got was one of the most wonderful periods of my life which I still carry with me today in the child born 28 years ago to that union. I was in Beirut when the civil war broke out there for the next six months. I was young, naive, TOTALLY out of my element and in a war zone. But that experience has much to do with what shaped the rest of my life. If I had chosen to, I could have taken that experience and said, “I’m OUT OF HERE”, but that really was not an option. Instead, I remained with my new Moslem family who protected me with their lives, just as they would now. When we had to finally leave Beirut, we were five women, an infant, and our Christian driver. Each checkpoint that we encountered could have meant death to us. As an American I was definitely a liability to the other passengers. The last check point we encountered was the most frightening, it was Philangist near the airport. The guns were pointed at us as our driver was ordered from the car. In the end, my mother-in-law had to pay a bribe and we were allowed to go on.
Why am I telling you this story? Because it is a metaphor for the good people, the kind and excepting people, sharing a car (our world), risking our lives to reach a destination, protecting each other against the hatred we encounter. It is not about the differences in our religions, it is not about the hate all around us, it is about reaching out to each other in an attempt to understand so that the hatred is disspelled. I am praying with you, and with others, from the depth of my soul, that this madness will end. Please everyone, pray for peace and do everything in your own power to promote it in your own words and deeds.

Some people still think that they can live in peace by killing others or by means of war. Well, I beleive that peace is the only way to live in peace. Like it or not, this is a fact that you should be aware of.
