I actually think it is quite an intelligent move from his side to open a blog - he knows the blogworld is densly "populated" and this way he can spread his message or whatever he plans to say, internationally. If his intention is to reach the masses - I think his calculation is correct. I'm simply curious what he'll have to say and will curiously observe his blog.
