I was walking in the streets of Irbid city last night, when I saw an old man selling these..!

I only paid 1 Jordanian Dinar for the 175 Iraqi Dinars!
No, It’s not because I like the pictures of Saddam, I don’t like the man, but I’m just fond of collecting currencies.
you can find just anything at the streets of Irbid, it’s so unpredictable! Man, I love Irbid!!

I can remember those days Abed when One Iraqi Dinar used to equal 1 Kuawiti Dinar, and more than 2.5 JD’s! Who could believe this… I know another man in irbid who selles old coins from every where in the world, you can find him near the Royal Jordanian office in Al-Husun street.
by the way, it was an amazing chance to meet you… at last!

Hey Abed,
I wonder… maybe a business idea for you to exploit American’s weird version of patriotism… buy a whole bunch of those things, put them in acrylic like a desktop paperweight and put an inscription on it ‘memoralizing’ America’s great freedom campaign and then sell them via ebay or something for like 20$ each. A bit cynical I know but its nice to take advantage of americans sometimes.
Peace

I also have the 25 Iraqi note I brought back from Jordan in 1993.
Just prior to the first Gulf war, I think there were two diffent types of currency in Iraq (locally printed versus Swiss printed, if memory serves me well) and Saddam had cancelled one of them (I think the one with the horses on it). At this point people just starting throwing it away. I think people were throwing it from the windows resembling New Year’s Eve in Times Square. Many, many people who though the currency was a wise investment lost “bazillions” as it turned out, it wasn’t even worth the paper it was printed on.
I recall my parents talking about a time when 1 JD = 3.5 USD. Now, 1 JD = 1.41 USD

I was young, but I remember something like this, and I think that my aunt’s husband lost a great amount of Iraqi money due to this thing!
