Yesterday I took sometime off, and watched “Babel”. I heared alot about this movie, and as a good fan of Brad Pitt, I was disappointed.

Unlike MoeY, I was not fascinated by the plot, and nothing’s so interesting about the series of events. Actually, I found it somewhat boring and too expected!
Babel is categorized as Drama/Thriller, featuring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett (Oh my!) won the oscar of Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Score.

One thing I liked about the movie is the variety of cultures exposed in the series of correlated events, like the old Arab culture, the Mexican, Chinese, and the American. It also touched the exaggeration of some governments in relating everything to terror attacks.
Babel got 6/10 on my scale.

I agree! So not worth watching it at a movie theatre, a dvd at home is more than enough. Found it boring, couldn’t appreciate the ingenuity that is supposed to relate the four plots to each other.

Few days ago I saw the movie for the first time. People recommended it to me. I got it. I decided to see it after a month I guess.
I really liked it though. I liked the plot and the concept of globalization that needs to be brought out one day in a realistic way like the one in the movie.

i SO agree, as i got out of the theatre i asked myself, what the hell was that all bout! it felt like 3 movies rolled into one.. usually brad pitt choses his movies wisely, i think he made a huge mistake on this one. he was even quoted before the oscars saying that Leo Di did better choices this year and sara7a after blood diamond, i can absum bil 3ashara on that lol!

:O
i almost took that personally!
i found it.. amazing! i was even going to post about it.
i was crying 3/4 of the movie! .. yeah i cry a lot in movies but still it was a really good movie!
a bit.. disturbing.. at some points, but i found the plot beautiful. i mean it showed how when it comes down to it, we’re all the same on the inside - we all have the same hopes, fears, wants, needs… and when that little boy surrendered… it showed the beauty of repentance, and how a good deed can erase a million sins.
it showed how that deaf girl was lost in this world - just like millions of people. how she needed to be loved, and cared about - and how she didn’t know how to express it.
it showed how a token of kindness is an act of heroism.. and how we can all connect as human beings.
i loved it!
and yeah brad pitt is amazing - i loved “Fight Club” the most.

I found the movie ok.. nothing exciting about it. I would not watch it again. It is one of those movie that you watch once and that’s it.
on 15 Mar 2007 at 1:46 am # ola
Of course it’s predictible, you know why? because it’s not a fiction. It exposes reality… the whole point of the movie, as I got it, was an allegory to what’s happening in the world nowadays. People are not getting each other, not even trying to. You saw how that kid was palyign around, shot a woman and a big deal was made out of it, then things escalated and spun out of control, just like what’s happening in the world nowadays, wars beak out for no justifiable reason.

Rebellious Arab Girl:
I never watch movies twice anyway
Ola:
Good point ola.
but guys my point is, it’s not something I enjoyed watching! I didn’t find it interesting, not fun, not much of a plot ! I just didn’t enjoy it at all, I was too boring for me!
