It exposes reality... the whole point of the movie, as I got it, was an allegory to what's happening in the world nowadays. People are not getting each other, not even trying to. You saw how that kid was palyign around, shot a woman and a big deal was made out of it, then things escalated and spun out of control, just like what's happening in the world nowadays, wars beak out for no justifiable reason.
